Darwin 2011 trip
Friends Day Out was developed for people with disabilities, (abilities) to do some thing more than movies, and bowling on the weekends. The group meet each fortnight at a designated meeting place and time. It has a program that you can work with and put funds towards what you are interested in. Some people may not like some venues, so you skip it and choose what you like . Friends Day Out "Kody" tries to find interesting places to go and see. New friend ships, learning transport, group bookings, team work. We do have rules in the group, and learn to respect we are all different. Friends Day out has expanded and with that had a trip to Darwin N.T. 7 members went June 2011, and we had the best time,, we stayed at the Y.M.C.A., our host was Peter and John, and we could not have asked for better, very homely.
Thankyou guys. We had 10 very full days of enjoying every thing the top end had to offer from the beautiful weather, markets and different taste sensations, tours, dining at Tims Surf and Turf 3 times . We also had another Mum (Pam) who come in to surport the group while there. Well done Kody.
Darwin 2012 trip
The friends day out group could not resist going back to darwin for a second trip as they had so much fun the first time around. So in July 2012 they made their way back to Darwin. This time the group consisted of 8 members with disabilities and 4 support, Marie, John, Julia and Brian. This time the group had an even better adventure with all new activities planned for the 10 days they were in the N.T. They went and explored the Katherine Gorge. Had an exiting time on the Jumping Crocodile Cruise. They also had a look around the FannyBay jail, the military museum and the markets which was a favourite of theirs during their last visit. The group could also not resist going back to Tim's Surf and Turf for a great tasting dinner. On the hotter of the days they did head over to the new YMCA water park, which is free to enter and a great time! members had a lot of fun in the wave pool, the lap pools and on the water slides. Some other activities were Bowling, The Crocodile Cove, Trike bike riding around town, Darwin Casino and the Spirit of Darwin boat cruise. Our accommodation was again at the Y.M.C.A. with our host Peter. Overall we had another successful trip. Everybody had a wonderful time
